Here’s what your session actually looks like.
We meet at a spot that feels like you.
A park, the beach, your backyard, somewhere that actually means something to your people.
We hang out. We chat. I take photos.
We start slow. No rush. Everyone settles in. The kids warm up, and you too.
And then, somewhere in the middle of it all, something shifts.
People stop thinking about the camera too much.
They just are. With each other. Fully present.
That’s when the real photos happen.
After the shoot, within two weeks you will receive an online gallery and can download all your images. Images are in JPG format in high-res for printing and web-res for sharing. Every single one is included for you to print to your heart’s content.
I only work with a small number of clients each month so every session gets the time,
attention and care it deserves.

How much does a family photo session cost in Melbourne?
Family portrait sessions with Katsnap start at $750 for a 45-minute session and $1,100 for a 90-minute session. Both include all finished images: approx. 50 to 100 edited photos delivered in high resolution for printing and web resolution for sharing. Optional extras such as travel outside inner Melbourne, special retouching, printing and album design are always discussed and quoted upfront.

What if it rains?
Do you have gumboots and an umbrella?
We will watch the forecast together and make a call, then the rain radar. Sometimes we reschedule. Sometimes we shoot anyway; this is where your gumboots come into play!
Rain can be beautiful.
Do you photograph families with older children in Melbourne?
Absolutely. Please book. Nobody documents the eight to sixteen years, and they are some of the most interesting, character-filled years of a person’s life. And selfies are not enough. I also photograph non-traditional families, patchwork families, chosen families, friend groups and housemates. Family is whoever belongs in your life.
Do you offer family photography gift vouchers in Melbourne?

What should we wear for family photos in Melbourne?
Most importantly, wear something you love and feel comfortable in. Coordinate if you like, but avoid everyone matching exactly. Different tones and textures that complement each other look more natural and more interesting. What if the kids won’t cooperate?
They don’t have to. I have spent a decade working with children of every age and temperament. I know how to work with whatever the day brings, moods and all. Some of my favourite shots come from exactly those moments. We do breaks, snacks, play & silliness – all of it.
Where do you photograph families in Melbourne?
I don’t work in a studio for family photography. Outdoor sessions allow families to move freely, interact naturally and be photographed in light and surroundings that feel real. This is where families look most like themselves. I shoot across Melbourne, Bayside, Albert Park, St Kilda, Brighton, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, Middle Park, Fitzroy, Carlton, Richmond, South Yarra, Toorak, Malvern, Camberwell, Kew, Elsternwick, Caulfield, Collingwood and the surrounds. Parks, gardens, the beach and bay foreshore, the city, or your home and backyard. Wherever feels right for your family. Outside these areas? I travel for the right session.
Can we have an album or wall prints?
You will get all images of your online gallery as a download and can technically print them all yourself.
However, I can do this all for you, as an optional extra. I can get your photos professionally printed on archive paper, get them framed & hung onto your walls or design and print a photo album for you and your family.
